About Us

The students and engineers behind Circuit Sprout, and why we started it.

Circuit Sprout is a nonprofit that mails free STEM kits to kids who wouldn't otherwise get to build things.

Every kit is free, matched to the student's grade, and built around real hardware.

We started it because too many kids never get the chance to wire a circuit or write a line of code. A box on the doorstep fixes that faster than anything else we could think of.

Our Story

Circuit Sprout started in Keller, Texas when Eric Yoon and Subha Karki saw too many classmates priced out of hands-on STEM. Schools without lab budgets, families who cannot afford robotics kits, and communities far from enrichment programs all miss out on the same thing: a chance to build something real.

We founded Circuit Sprout to close that gap. Instead of asking kids to travel to a lab or pay for expensive equipment, we ship a kit built for their grade straight to their door, with everything needed to learn at home.

Today our team ships free kits nationwide, builds the tools behind our application and community platform, and works toward chapters, competitions, and mentorship programs that help students grow from curious beginners into confident builders.

Our Values

  • Access for all. Cost, zip code, and school funding should never decide who gets to explore STEM. Our kits are free for families who need them.
  • Real tools, real learning. Kids learn by wiring circuits, writing code, soldering boards, and fixing what they break.
  • Family-centered. Every kit includes a facilitator guide written for parents and caregivers with zero STEM background, so learning happens together at home.
  • Long-term vision. Kits are step one. School chapters, competitions, and mentorship come next, so students stay engaged for the long run.

How we make an impact

Free STEM kits

We ship kits matched to a student's grade, with guides, activities, and everything needed to start building right away.

Family-first learning

Every kit includes a guide written for parents and caregivers, so families can learn alongside their kids without any prior STEM experience.

Building confidence

Finishing a project you built with your own hands changes how a kid sees themselves. That confidence carries into school and beyond.

Growing together

After the kit, we want students to keep going. We're working on local chapters and a mentorship program.

From the founder

“I want every kid who opens a Circuit Sprout kit to know that someone believes in them — that STEM is for them, and that their curiosity is worth investing in. That's what Circuit Sprout is about.”
